Changing it up.

As much as I enjoy writing these essays, I think I’m about done with them.  I wanted to get into blogging to make sure my writing skills would stay up to par over the summer, and I think the couple little things I put up probably helped me.  I just don’t think the research and argument essays are going to keep coming once I get back to school.  1.  They’re not really coming along much now, and 2.  I’ll have real papers to write here in about a week and a half.

But I’m not giving up on this page.  I like this blogging thing, and I think I can still write during school.  It’ll just be different.  Posts from now on are just going to be a few paragraphs, more like a newspaper opinion article.  I’ll still tackle politics and philosophy and history, but it’ll be from observation and my memory, as opposed to actual research (probably good for writer and reader, entertainment-wise).

Also, I’ll talk about more regular blog-type stuff.  Movies, music, TV shows, even stuff from daily life (maybe…)  Hopefully all of this will be more entertaining and insightful.  I still don’t imagine anyone reading this, but as long as I at least entertain myself, I’ll still do it (and as long as it’s free).

The new title is from a quote by Hernan Cortes, the famed Spanish Conquistador, which I particularly like.

“It was so wonderful that I do not know how to describe this first glimpse of things never heard of, seen or dreamed of before…”

Thanks for reading!  I’ll try and put up a new, real post this weekend.

Introduction

Hi.

I’ve been really following the recent war in Georgia with a lot of interest the past few days.  Coverage by the BBC and analysis by the Economist has been really excellent, and even CNN has been giving the issue its full due.

I decided to sort of sum up, analyze and offer my own take on the whole situation, albeit a bit long-windedly.  I used the above sources (and of course wikipedia ;) ).

My next few posts will be about different topics, and hopefully will be a bit shorter. (I hope I don’t have this much free time on my hands in the future)
